An IPDAS Electronic File Wrapper (or "EFW") is like an electronic folder where case documents can be organized together for quick visual access.

The contents of wrappers are saved to your underlying document management system or directory – EFW serves as a viewer.

EFW contents are automatically profiled into your document management system
EFWs are one-stop storage: they hold documents generated in IPDAS, non-IPDAS-generated documents, documents downloaded from the PTO’s Image File Wrapper, prior art, even e-mails and their attachments saved directly from Outlook
Use EFW to preview and approve e-filing packages right from your desktop
EFWs are accessible over the internet
From Outlook, add e-mails with attachments to EFW via new toolbar
From within EFW, send e-mails with EFW documents as attachments
Allow clients to access their case documents in EFW via your extranet
Assign keywords to documents for easier searching later
